Meditation of the Month - Shivnetra Meditation

Please be seated at ease.
 
1st step (About 3 Minutes): Chanting OM

Join your hands, close your eyes and sing along the Mantra OM thrice.

 
2nd Step (About 2 Minutes): Gazing - I

Gaze continuously at the illuminated bulb.

 
3rd step (About 3 Minutes): Watching within - I

Turn off the bulb and close your eyes (with your palms softly) and watch at the changes in the color and shape of the image of bulb formed within.

When the image disappears look at the formless inner sky.

 
4th step (About 2 Minutes): Gazing – II

Open your eyes. Look in normal light for half minute. Light the bulb and look at illuminated bulb again.

 
5th Step (About 3 Minutes): Watching within – II

Turn off the bulb and close your eyes (with your palms softly) and watch at the changes in the color and shape of the image of bulb formed within.

When the image disappears look at the formless inner sky.

 
6th Step (About 2 Minutes): Gazing – III

Open your eyes. Look in normal light for half minute. Light the bulb and look at illuminated bulb again.

 
7th Step (About 3 Minutes): Watching within – III

Turn off the bulb and close your eyes (with your palms softly) and watch at the changes in the color and shape of the image of bulb formed within.

When the image disappears look at the formless inner sky.

 
8th Step (About 7 Minutes): Relaxation

Lie down straight without any stress or uneasiness.

Feel that Each and every organ of the body is getting relaxed.

There are no more disturbances.

The wavering in the mind is vanishing.

Breathing is getting soft slow, quiet.

Your consciousness is a still lake with no ripples at all.

Everything has come to a stand still.

You are being filled with silence.

 
9th Step (About 15 Minutes): Self - Remembrance

Feel the immense joy of the silence.

Rejoice in this very moment.

This is your ultimate nature.

This is your true self.

 
 
10th Step (About 5 Minutes): Gratitude

Take some deep breaths. Come back…

But come back with the memory of your true self.

Bow down to the entire existence for this valuable gift.

Let its remembrance spread throughout.

 

Precautions:

*          Use a normal bulb of 100 watt. You may make the provision of dimmer switch and keep it near you. Switch off the lights before closing the eyes.

*          The height of the bulb should be at the same height as the eyes.

*          The distance from the bulb should be of at least 3 meters.

*          Do not practice this meditation technique if your eyes are continuously watering.

*          It is more beneficial to do this meditation technique at night.

*          Do not do this meditation technique for more than 3 months.
